The Sundance Film Festival unites daring storytellers with audiences eager to explore thought-provoking work through its annual lineup of feature-length fiction and nonfiction films, short films, episodic storytelling, special events, timely filmmaker conversations, panel discussions, and more. For over forty years, films that debuted at the Festival have gone on to achieve global and critical acclaim.

The Sundance Institute, a nonprofit organization, offers and maintains a platform for independent artists to create and showcase distinctive, innovative new works. Established by Robert Redford in 1981 in Utah, the Institute is globally recognized as a community and resource for thousands of artists at various stages of their careers through artist development programs, labs, and grants.
The Sundance Film Festival is the Institute's largest artist program, promoting independent storytelling across genres and mediums since 1985. The 2027 Sundance Film Festival will be held for the first time in its new location in Boulder, CO, from January 21 to January 31, 2027.
