The latest annual screening of the Venice Shorts of LA was on Jan 28th, 2024, at the Fine Arts Theatre of Beverly Hills and the finalists of the annual fest were screened in the iconic and historic cinema to hundreds of film lovers from LA.
Sponsored by LA Indies magazine and Minima Films, the festival screened award-winning shorts of various genres in animation, experimental, drama, documentary, etc. Venice Shorts of LA has turned into one of the most popular short film festivals in the past few years. The festival was started as an indie event in Venice and has established itself as a groundbreaking art event for international and American shorts of all genres with hybrid events which includes online and cinema screenings in LA.
The annual festival consists of three days of cinema and digital promotion and screening of short films from all over the world through the iconic Fine Arts theater and various venues and platforms partnered with the fest.
Venice Shorts has also featured some of the most well-known names in the film industry together with emerging U.S. and international talents. The festival alumni include Oscar winners and nominees such as Gus Van Sant, Jeremy Irons, Eric Roberts, Ross Kauffman and Jessica Chastain. Arsalan Baraheni, the Canadian filmmaker is the executive producer of the Venice Shorts.
The festival aims to discover indie film projects but also encourages established names in the industry to take part in creation of short films as producers, directors, actors and writers. It is important for the committee of Venice Shorts to recognize and promote the power of short filmmaking. The festival is dedicated to short films of all genres and independent artists from all over the globe.
