While the zombie trend seemed to fade in the late 2010s, it has recently made a strong return. Danny Boyle's popular film "28 Years Later" is about to be released on Netflix, and the 2013 zombie movie "World War Z" is currently the third most-watched film on Hulu this week.Â
The movie stars Brad Pitt as a former UN investigator who must navigate the zombie apocalypse and attempt to save humanity. Pitt's character journeys across the globe, moving from one intense scene to another. The film isn't overly frightening (in part due to its PG-13 rating), but it remains an engaging and suspenseful experience.Â

Unfortunately, the film achieved only moderate success upon its release. It did reasonably well at the box office, and critics generally deemed it acceptable, though not exceptional. A significant issue arose from the complaints of fans of the book on which it was based. The book was not only less sanitized but also adopted a short-story anthology format, portraying the zombie apocalypse by frequently shifting to new locations and characters, offering a diverse range of perspectives.Â
In contrast, the movie followed a conventional hero's journey, focusing on Brad Pitt's character and neglecting the book's expansive scope. For those unfamiliar with the book, this approach seemed fine, but for readers, it was difficult not to feel disappointed by the film's omission of the element that made the book unique.Â
